Olchfa Students Get Hands-On Engineering Experience at C&P Engineering

C&P Engineering was proud to host students from Olchfa Comprehensive School as part of the Explore Engineering Roadshow, organised in collaboration with the Regional Learning and Skills Partnership South West Wales. The event provided an exciting opportunity for young learners to explore the diverse and innovative world of engineering, gaining firsthand experience with industry-leading equipment and insights from experts in the field.

Inspiring the Future of Engineering

The roadshow, designed to bridge the gap between education and industry, gave students an inside look at the skills, technology, and opportunities within the engineering sector. They engaged with real-world applications, experiencing the tools and equipment used daily by professionals.
Andrew Beer, Chair of the Regional Learning and Skills Partnership, delivered an inspiring talk, emphasising the vast career pathways in engineering and the growing demand for skilled workers in South West Wales and beyond.

Hands-On Learning & Industry Collaboration

A key highlight of the day was the three engaging workshops led by C&P Engineering’s experienced team:

  • Glanding Installation – Led by Dewi, students gained practical knowledge on cable glanding, an essential aspect of electrical installations in industrial settings.
  • Inspections on the Dust Rig – Jon guided students through inspection procedures on our Dust Rig, demonstrating critical safety and compliance checks in hazardous environments.
  • Electrical Inspections & Testing – Rebecca introduced students to electrical testing and inspection procedures, showcasing the importance of ensuring electrical safety and system reliability.

These hands-on sessions allowed students to not only observe but also actively participate in key engineering practices, reinforcing their understanding of real-world applications in the industry.

The event was further enriched through collaboration with industry leaders such as Andrew Scott Ltd, ECITB, and Tata Group. These partnerships highlight the importance of industry-led initiatives in the development of future engineers and ensure that students are aware of the career potential within sectors like Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I), hazardous area inspections, and more.

C&P Engineering remains committed to supporting programmes like the Explore Engineering Roadshow, ensuring that young talent is inspired and well-equipped to take on future roles in engineering.

Why Engineering Matters More Than Ever

With an increasing demand for skilled professionals across various engineering disciplines, events like this play a crucial role in addressing the skills gap and inspiring the next generation. By connecting students with industry experts and offering hands-on learning experiences, we aim to foster a passion for engineering and encourage more young minds to consider it as a career choice.

Looking Ahead

C&P Engineering looks forward to continuing its collaboration with educational institutions and industry partners to deliver more initiatives like this. We’re excited about the future of engineering and the bright young minds stepping into the field.
