At C&P Engineering, we had the incredible opportunity to visit Neath Abbey Primary School to introduce young minds to the exciting world of engineering and electrical instrumentation (E&I).
Encouraging Diversity in Engineering
Leading the session were Rebecca, one of our talented E&I Project Engineers, and Danielle, from our Administrative team. Their presentation provided students with valuable insights into what it means to work in engineering and how diverse the field truly is.
We take immense pride in seeing women in our team take the lead in these discussions. By showcasing the diversity within C&P Engineering, we hope to inspire young students—especially young girls—to consider careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Engineering is a field for everyone, and breaking down stereotypes is essential in shaping a more inclusive future.
Hands-On Fun with Science & Engineering
To make the session even more engaging, we conducted fun, hands-on experiments that demonstrated key engineering principles in an exciting way. The children had a fantastic time using static balloons to lift up their hair and attract small objects, showcasing the power of electrostatics in a playful yet educational manner. These activities helped bring science to life, making learning an interactive and memorable experience.
We also introduced simple demonstrations on how electricity works and the basics of circuits, giving the students a glimpse into real-world engineering applications in a fun and accessible way. The enthusiasm and curiosity shown by the children were truly inspiring!
The Importance of Early Engagement
Engaging with students at an early age helps spark curiosity and interest in engineering careers. Through interactive discussions and real-world examples, we highlighted the vast opportunities available in the electrical, control, and instrumentation (EC&I) industry. Encouraging innovation and problem-solving skills in young learners today will help create the skilled engineers of tomorrow.
