C&P Engineering Services has appointed Talfan Hopkins to the position of Principal EC&I Engineer and Technical Director
A Chartered Engineer, Talfan Hopkins brings his extensive EC&I design engineering knowledge and professional experience to underline C&P’s commitment to drive growth across all areas of the business and strengthen its position within the marketplace.
Talfan joins C&P’s senior management team having held leadership roles in Control & Instrumentation design, installation and maintenance in top-tier COMAH facilities in the chemical, oil and gas industries. Specialising in all aspects of Process Instrumentation as well as DCS and PLC Control systems, Talfan brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to the selection and specification of these devices, and complying with the DSEAR/ATEX regulations for their use in flammable/hazardous areas.
A TUV certified Functional Safety Engineer, his experience extends to all phases of the IEC61508/IEC61511 lifecycle with a true cradle-to-grave approach; providing SIS consultation service to deliver, lead and contribute to Process Hazard Reviews, LOPA Analysis, SIL calculations and Functional Safety Assessments.
Talfan’s expert knowledge in functional safety includes machinery safety, enabling him to carry out machinery risk assessments, gap analysis and design and implementation of safety improvements for both new and existing machines.
